Rasing Money in Alton, Hampshire
The annual Alton Victorian Cricket Tournament raises money for a different local charity each year.
Last year the tournament raised £5,000 for St. Michael's Hospice so many thanks to the Alton community and other visitors for supporting such a great cause.
The Victorian Cricket Tournament consists of a number of teams made up from local organisations (Churches, Pubs, Community Groups, etc) and they play each other in simple league type matches to obtain as many runs as possible.
The two teams with the highest run score play in the final. You can keep track of the scores in the Programme (see last year's programme on the right).
Apart from the Tournament itself the event has many side shows and stalls to entertain you. The organisers are grateful to all those stall holders who support the event year on year as they donate some of their takings to our nominated Charity. Refreshments for the teams (and their supporters!) are available throughout the day and are provided by the popular Bar tent (operated by the Alton Victorian Cricket Committee) and the different food stalls, which are positioned around playing area.
